Our name is derived from Isaiah 60:1 that says,
Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
Our motto is: Expect great things from God, Attempt great things for God.
This epigram is ascribed to William Carey (1761-1834) who has been called the father of the modern missions movement based on more than 40 years laboring as a missionary in India.
Jesus said to His disciples, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Arise Shine is seeking to further Christianity by providing assistance and support in various forms to Christian workers who are faithful to the Scriptures, true to the Reformed faith, and obedient to this Great Commission from Mt. 28:18-20.
As the first endeavor aimed at fulfilling our mission and motto, Arise Shine is seeking to provide financial assistance to be used for the higher education of the children of families who are laboring to fulfill the Great Commission. We appreciate that many of these families have limited resources and that the cost of college or university education for their children may represent a substantial hardship. The Arise Shine Scholarship Program will derive its funding from individuals who have themselves been blessed with great things from God and now wish to give from their abundance to attempt great things for God in assisting the children of Christian workers as they move into and through higher education.
We are currently finalizing application material to be completed by prospective students and their families for the first round of Arise Shine Scholarships. The Arise Shine Scholarships can be used for study at any accredited college or university and are not restricted to any particular field of study. Submitted applications will be reviewed and scholarships awarded based in part on the needs of the families of applicants. The number and amount of individual scholarships will be based on available resources. We expect great things from God so anticipate that the Arise Shine Scholarship Program will expand over time as the Lord provides. Further details regarding the Arise Shine Scholarship Program will soon be available.
